I am in possession of a provisional driving license M18 and I was recently stopped by police for carrying a friend (who does not have a driving license).
I got a letter today from police to acknowledge the crime and I suppose it will proceed to a court hearing?.
You might get a settlement
I suggest you take & pay it if you get one.
This used to go to court , but apparently these offences can get settled out of court too nowadays.
Can you please let me know if we need an advocate for the court hearing?
A lawyer is optional
So you don't really need one if you don't contest the facts, show up in court and some remorse, agree that it isn't exactly a good start, ...
That kind of nonsense you don't really mean, but still reduces your fine .
I am ready to pay fines. I am also not sure if the crime can result into imprisonment?
Punishment is fines & expenses (about 350€ when convicted) only
The fine is usually around the lower end of the scale (400€ - 800€) for a first conviction part of which may be provisional.
Legally, there's no imprisonment , and no suspension of your driver's licence possible for this offense.
Unless you have a recent previous (partly) suspended conviction, that is ... then the suspended part becomes effective
