Question 8365: priority at junction

Bericht door Blues »

Hi,
I don’t understand why the black car shouldn’t have priority? It is already at the junction. If the car was before the pedestrian crossing then yes, the yellow car. Appreciate your comment on this.

So if you were the yellow car, you would be fine making an emergency stop because of the black car?

Hi Rafael,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm thinking of this as being analogous to the cyclist crossing. A cyclist has to give priority to the car when passing the cyclist crossing, unless it is already on the crossing. So the black car could have started moving onto the junction when the yellow car was sufficiently far away. Is this argument and analogy valid?

But the fact is the black car has to give way, it should not enter the junction when it is not safe and he can not clear the junction without blocking other cars.

Regarding the cyclist crossing: this does not mean a cyclist can/should "throw" himself in front of a car thinking "i have priority as soon as i am on the crossing".
